“Photographers deal in things which are continually vanishing and when they have vanished there is no contrivance on earth which can make them come back again.”

– Henri Cartier-Bresson

Weddings

There’s nothing quite like a Tucson Wedding! The beautiful Tucson weather, epic sunsets behind towering saguaros, and close family bonds create an atmosphere of love that can be felt even by me, the observer. I spend a lot of my time on a wedding day blending in, anticipating genuine moments shared between families and friends, otherwise unnoticed or unseen. My camera is always at my eye, and the experience from having photographed 500+ weddings typically helps put me in the right place and the right time.

  • Evan was not only an amazing photographer but so friendly and accommodating for our unique wedding needs. Our wedding photos are amazing and really capture how magical the wedding was for us. 100 % recommended!!

  • Evan was absolutely awesome. He had soo many great ideas for pictures, but also let us give our own ideas for some nice shots. He made the picture portion of our wedding go very smooth and we are grateful. We recommended him to a coworker who is also getting married at Saguaro Buttes.

Engagements

There is no better way to feel at ease about your wedding day photography experience than by doing a practice run! I love getting to know my clients personally, understanding their connection, their bond, and what matters to them. Engagement sessions are casual, fun, and active. We spend a couple hours bouncing between a few beautiful outdoor locations in the best light of the day, finishing up right around (or just after) sunset. We explore, chasing the light, and creating pieces of art that you might just want displayed at your wedding (or, hopefully, on the walls in your home).

  • Evan did such a great job with our engagement photos and our wedding photos. He really brought out the best moments at our wedding!

  • Evan did a fantastic job with our photography for both our wedding and our engagement session. For our engagement session we really wanted to take our photographs at an old cowtown that was special to both of us and Evan was willing to drive an hour outside of the city to make that wish come true.

  • Evan was amazing! He was very professional. He was a lot of fun to work with and our engagement pictures were gorgeous. We haven’t gotten our wedding pictures yet (its only been a week) but I know they will be amazing!

Families

Family sessions are such a blast! I love meeting new families and capturing their unique dynamics with fun, active shots. Posing is natural and focused on the best light and compositions. Family photos are better when kids are having fun, so tickle fights, crazy faces, and goofing around are welcome and encouraged.

  • It was great meeting Evan today for our family photo shoot!!! Mt Lemmon is a beautiful backdrop. Evan it was pleasure to work with you. You made us feel so comfortable. Thank you so much!!! Will definitely call on you in the future.

  • I can’t recommend Evan enough. Not only does he have an incredible eye and is highly skilled at capturing natural shots, but I think his secret sauce is the positive energy he carries with him. I think that energy truly brings out the best in people, so that he is able to capture some amazing shots. Evan has photographed our family twice; once with our greater extended family and once with just our family of four. His calm, laid back, and playful demeanor lends to the perfect setting for photos with kids. I’m looking forward to many more sessions in the years to come with this fantastic photographer!

Grads

Whether graduating from high school or earning a degree in higher education, congrats on this important moment in your journey! High school senior portrait sessions are super fun and relaxed, at beautiful outdoor locations in the best light of the day. University of Arizona graduate photo sessions are a great way to celebrate your huge accomplishment.

  • Great experience working with Evan. Made us all feel comfortable and more than willing to go the extra mile to get a great shot.

FAQ

Do you offer other types of shoots? What other services do you offer?

I started out as a wedding photographer way back in 2008, and since then I’ve had the honor and privilege of capturing the families of those early brides and grooms as they grow. It’s been one of the true honors of my life to create a storyline of these families year after year. So while I do specialize in Engagements, Weddings, and Family Photos, I’m always honored to capture other similar moments in couples’ lives – Proposals, Elopements, Vow Renewals, and Anniversary Shoots.

Do you offer prints and albums with your packages?

Custom wedding albums are available in a variety of sizes and styles. I’d love to show you some samples and talk about creating something tangible, beautiful, and timeless with your photographs. Prints are available through your online gallery, and for larger or custom-sized prints, just ask! I use only pro photo labs with experience in color correction and print quality.

Do you offer a 2nd photographer?

Yes! A second photographer may be necessary depending on your wedding day plans. Although my experience tends to put me in the right place at the right time, I realize there are sometimes important moments happening in different places simultaneously. I work with a select few experienced professionals with styles and approaches similar to mine. If you think you might need a 2nd photographer, let’s talk!

How would you describe your style?

To describe my overall style and approach, these words come to mind: natural, genuine, minimalist, and timeless. On a wedding day there are so many moments to be captured. Years of experience and hundreds of wedding days have enabled me to anticipate and be ready for these moments. My goal is to capture every genuine laugh, every tear, every emotional or hilarious moment of each wedding I photograph. My focus is on finding and using the best, most beautiful light available for every situation. Although that usually ends up being natural light, sometimes it means using off-camera lighting to enhance a photo. My editing style is minimalistic and natural, and I avoid “fads” and heavy color changes, preferring “real” look. Exposure, contrast, white balance, and sharpness are perfected, with blemish removal if necessary.

What kind of equipment do you use?

After trying the different brands of professional cameras, I settled with Canon cameras and L series prime lenses for their light sensitivity, unbeatable sharpness, and contrast. I carry two camera bodies and several prime lenses. My favorites are the 35mm F1.4L, 85mm F1.4L, and 135mm F2.0L. Inside each of my cameras are two redundant memory cards, ensuring no photos are lost even in the (rare) event of a corrupt memory card.

Do you have backup equipment?

Absolutely. For every shoot, I carry two camera bodies and several lenses. Inside each camera are two memory cards, making identical copies of every photo I take. I also carry backup flash and lighting equipment, and of course lots of extra batteries and memory cards.

Do you offer discounts?

Yes! I offer a 5% discount for those who have served in the military, our selfless and undervalued educators, and those who serve as first responders. This discount is my way of thanking those who put others first and foremost in their careers.

What happens if you get very sick or have an emergency and can’t make it to the wedding?

I’ve been extremely fortunate in that I have never been unable to attend and capture a wedding in my 14+ year career. In the event of an emergency, injury, or illness, I rely on the large, talented community of professional wedding photographers in Tucson who “have each others’ backs”. There are a select few whose styles are similar to my own, and I approach them first to check availability. In the event none of those are available, I would make sure someone is there to capture the day.

I’m not photogenic/I hate having photos taken of myself, but I know I would regret not having a wedding photographer. How do you approach photographing people like me?

My preference is for active, natural posing that allows for a lot of interaction between a couple while they’re being photographed. I try to “read” each couple’s need for direction and posing, and when extra help is needed, I’ll tell you exactly what to do to look your best in your photos. For the majority of a wedding day, I try to blend in and go unnoticed. This helps with capturing a lot of candid genuine smiles and real emotion from interaction with friends and family. Engagement sessions are a great trial run before the wedding day, allowing us to get to know each other and give you an idea of how relaxed and fun it is working together to create beautiful photos.

Are retainers refundable?

Unfortunately if a wedding is cancelled, retainers are non-refundable. Since a retainer reserves the full day, I often have to turn away potential clients inquiring about the same date. In the event of a cancellation, the retainer only partially reimburses me for this loss. Date changes are more flexible, and handled on a case-by-case basis.
